Expected for a few years now, and postponed several times due to stops in filming for the Covid emergency, the fourth season of Stranger Things will be available on Netflix from May 27 with its first seven episodes, while for the finale (episodes 8 and 9) we will have to wait until July 1st. The science fiction series, set in 1980s America and inspired by the sci-fi movie of the time, tells the story of Hawkins’ young heroes – now a little grown up – again grappling with a supernatural threat, six months after the battle of Starcourt. Off-road vehicle in uniform. Contrary to what the third season has led to believe, in Stranger Things 4 we will see Jim Hopper (David Harbor), the friendly sheriff of Hawkins with a look inspired by investigator Thomas Sullivan (Tom Selleck) of Magnum PI Unfortunately for him, the policeman of the fictional Indiana town never has the iconic one available Ferrari 308 GTS of the private detective, but a second generation Chevrolet K5 Blazer off-road vehicle with livery and flashing lights (in the opening photo, a Jada Toys model that reproduces the model of the series): a typical mid-80s, with square shapes and a impressive grille, also very popular as a work vehicle.

American icon. Who we will not see again is the character of Billy Hargrove (Dacre Montgomery), the young narcissistic lifeguard who played a fundamental role in the third season: here, as in the second chapter of the saga, he appears several times on the streets of Hawkins with his splendid Chevrolet Camaro Z28 model year 1979. A car no longer listed in the years of the setting, when the third series of the famous pony car had been in showrooms for some time, but still fascinating today, let alone then. Moreover, the Z28 was the high-performance version of the range, in fact a true muscle car with its powerful V8 engine.

Elegant discovery. Another great American icon is the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible, the elegant discovery that in 1984, after a few years of absence, brought a true open top body into the Eldorado family, which at the time reached its tenth generation. The car is featured in the third season of Stranger Things, where it is stolen by Hopper from an unfortunate motorist who stopped at a gas station to refuel his car.

Unfortunate Ford. To support the sheriff in this arrogance for good – the dangers to which these characters are exposed make the gesture necessary – is the mother of Will (Noah Schnapp), Joyce Byers (Wynona Ryder), who in the series uses as a car a 1970s Ford Pinto was deprived. If the hatchback line, historically little appreciated in North American markets, was not enough, at the time the car became the subject of media hype due to various cases of fire following a rear-end collision. Ford managed to prove in court, as Ruoteclassiche recallsthat the risk was no higher than that offered by its competitors, but could not erase the sad reputation of his car.

The German van. Finally, looking at the upcoming season, a couple of official posters and some sightings of fans on the set reveal the presence of a nice Volkswagen T3 minibus used for transporting pizzas. This van has never been celebrated as much as the two previous generations (T1 and T2), that is those linked to the myth of the Bulli, but it too was produced on the basis of the historic Beetle, and therefore with rear-wheel drive. Subsequent series would later adopt the forward scheme, but the new one Volkswagen ID.Buzzinspired by the Bulliestoday marks the return to everything behind: traction and engine are on the rear axle, but the thrust is electric.
